100th Day of School

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school.
The year is actually flying by and we have fallen into a rhythm that works perfectly for our family.
This afternoon, we celebrated by setting up our 100's day centers.

Center 1- Cup stacking
Objective- Try to stack 100 cups
They loved this center and really tried hard.  You can see that Andrew and Kate both tried to make a tall stack, while Emily and Matt spread the cups out.

Center 2- Pattern Blocks
Objective- Make a picture using 100 pattern blocks
Again each of the kids did something different using the 100 blocks

Center 3-Roll your way to 100
Objective-Roll the dice and continue to add on until you reach 100

Center 4-Build with 100 Popsicle Sticks
Objectives-Make something using 100 Popsicle sticks
Emily made a house with a sandbox.
Matt made a helicopter landing pad.
Andrew made tracks.
Kate made a house.

After our center time, we made 100's day trail mix

 We used a 100 grid
With 5 different snacks, each child put 10 of the snack item on their chart, then we passed the bowl to our neighbor at the table.

When they finished, we put the trail mix completed with 100 snack items into a sandwich baggie to enjoy!

100's day was a success.
Kate said, "This was the best day ever!"

Snow Day 2014

Our weather forecasters called for a winter storm arriving Tuesday afternoon.  Monday night, it was all the news talked about.  They were going back to recall the "Snow Jam of 1984" and "Snowmageddon" in 2010. Well, it arrived and caused plenty of hard ache for travelers on the roads!  Some people were stranded for 24 hours on the highways in Atlanta and several school districts had to keep their children at school overnight because the roads were not safe for travel.  We were all home safe and our kids had the time of their lives playing in the snow for only the second time in their life!

First snow flakes falling.....anxiously awaiting for it to stick!

Covering the ground....slipping and sliding on the trampoline

Enough to begin to roll snowballs

Big kids enjoy the snow just as much as the little ones

Their hard work pays off
