9 Months

Luke, you are nine months old today.  You are getting sweeter by the day.
At your 9 month well check, you weighed 19.5 and were 28.5 inches tall.  These are both in the 50%.
You have started eating "real" food this month and I actually think you prefer it over the baby food.
You have eaten pasta, chicken, cheese, yo baby yogurt, cheerios, and kix.
You are so cute and determined trying to feed yourself.  Most of the food ends up on the floor, or stuck to your clothes, but you do manage to get a few in your mouth!
You are sleeping so much better this month.  You have become a good napper on the days we stay home.  You take a morning and late afternoon nap, then go to sleep for the night around 7:00 pm.  You love to go to sleep listening to piano music.
You have been practicing learning to crawl with your Daddy and just the other day got into the crawling position on your own.  You are rocking back and forth before you fall.
You are wearing mostly 9 month or 6-12 month clothes.
You are still in size 3 diapers.
You are toothless, which is to be expected of our babies.

Lukie,as you are affectionately called by your sister Caroline.  You are the light of our lives.  You truly complete our not so little family of ten.  We love you.  We pray God's will and protection over your life.  We pray that you will love God and pursue Him passionately.

"For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”
Genesis 18:19

A spring like day in the middle of winter

Last week, we had a beautiful day.  One of those days that makes you think spring has sprung!  The kids and I made our way to the park after school.  Unfortunately, the first park was filled past capacity with an after school program, so we loaded up and went to the second park on our list.
The kids played their hearts out.
It was weather we could definitely get used to again.
But alas, the next morning we awoke to rain and cold weather once again.
We were spoiled by this beautiful day and are definitely looking forward to the actual arrival of spring.

"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

I am once again failing at remembering to take a picture everyday to document our life.  Guess I will go back to just getting pictures on the blog to tell our story.

Weekend with Grandpa and Grandma

Brett's parents had been wanting to visit for several months and finally had the chance to drive up for a long weekend.  They arrived Friday night around dinner to find 8 very surprised kids!
We stayed up late Friday night visiting in the living room and watching a video of footage taken of Brett's oldest brother when he was a little boy.  It was fun for the kids to see!
Luke got along great with Grandpa and was spoiled most of the weekend!  Brett and I had the chance to get away and enjoy a peaceful, kid free dinner thanks to Grandpa and Grandma offering to stay home and eat pizza with the kids.
The weather was pretty cold, so the kids stayed inside most of the time playing scrabble with Uncle Van who also came to visit overnight, and Uno with Grandpa and Grandma.  It was a relaxing weekend and we pretty much just sat around and talked.
Grandpa, Brett, and the boys

We were blessed to have lived some time in the same town as both my parents, and then Brett's parents.  We realize now that we are living away from our families again, how much we took this time for granted.  We are looking forward to seeing Grandpa and Grandma again in May when we go to Florida!

Father/Daughter Dance 2013

Last Friday, Emily and her Dad went to the Father/Daughter dance at her school.  They double dated with her best friend Ella and her Dad.
They left around 5:00 to eat dinner at Panera.  The girls had their pick of places to eat.  This was actually a step up from their original pick...Burger King!
They danced the night away before ending the night with a dessert run to a frozen yogurt shop in town.
This is a fun tradition that they started last year.  We are looking forward to next year when Kate will be in kindergarten and will be able to also attend.
