University of Georgia Vet School Open House

Last Friday, we went to the UGA vet school for their open house.  It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed sharing it with our friends.  The kids has a great time.

First event for the day.....Teddy bear surgery

The kids each brought a stuffed animal.  The vet students explained how they operate on animals using their stuffed animals.  They made little incisions in each animal and then stitched them back up.  It was really cute to watch.

Outside, they had lots of different animal presentations.  They had a horse painted to show his skeleton.  They had sheep sheering, cow milking, a zebra and camel.  They also had activities and games for the kids.  Here the kids were roping cows.

They also had an insect zoo.  The boys especially liked this one.  The had lots of insects to examine with magnify glasses, insect crafts, face painting, and even a bug tasting area....if you were brave enough!

It Is Good For the Soul

A little music, a little jumping, and lots of smiles and laughter!  It is good for a Mommy's soul.

Enjoying living the little experiences through the eyes of this sweet boy.
I pray that I remember tomorrow that the mundane things of life...dishes, laundry, vacuuming, and picking up the toys, along with the selfish things of life....down time, paging through blogs, facebook, and my iphone are far less important than this intentional time with my kids!

This sweet girl twirls her way through life.  Life experiences are recapped in song and she has never heard a song that does not require dancing.  She is a spitfire!  She dances to her own drum, definitely has her own opinions, and at times I find myself constantly correcting her.  My prayer has been that God will allow me to see her through his eyes.  That I will know how to encourage her and mold these qualities so that she can shine for God.

Spring........Hasn't Anyone Ever Told You Teasing Isn't Nice

The weather has been absolutely beautiful the past 2 days here in North Georgia.  Yesterday it was near 80!  The kids have brought out their shorts, had picnic lunches in the yard, went for long walks, and repeatedly asked when we can get out the sprinkler.  But, alas it was once again a tease.  A cold front is headed our way this afternoon bringing with it wind, cold weather, and rain!  So we are left to page through pictures and look forward to warmer weather to come.

"For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.  He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.  On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.  Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out you heart before him; God is a refuge for us."
Psalm 62:5-8

Emma Jane

Emma Jane joined our family at the beginning of February and is well loved by all our kids.  She is officially Emily's, but don't tell the little kids that.  We thought she would make a great addition to our classroom and we were right.  She is sweet and gentle and allows even Luke to hold and pet her.

Emily and I found ourselves in the guinea pig aisle at the local pet store back at the beginning of February when we went to make Baily our dog a new tag for her collar.  We both fell in love immediately with a little brightly colored guinea pig. I told Emily, she would have to get permission from her Dad first before we could buy one.  At first, he said no.  But, Emily was persistent and soon found herself writing a presentation for her Dad on the cost of guinea pig ownership.  In the end, she won over her Dad and was allowed to buy the guinea pig.  Only one problem existed at this point....Our adorable friend was gone and only huge guinea pigs were left to pick from.  We made a short drive to another store where we found Emma Jane.

Emily has remained a devoted mother to Emma.  She held guinea pig classes for the younger kids in our family and taught them how to care for her.  She is very attentive to Emma and has quickly learned what Emma likes/dislikes.

"Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God:  sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.  Otherwise, you also will be cut off.  And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again."
Romans 11:22-23

Our sweet boy and his two loves

Luke's first love in life is shoes.  No shoe is too big, small, colorful, plain, flat, or heeled for our little guy!  He has never met a shoe he doesn't love.

Luke's second love is bunny.  He carries him around, sniffs his ear, and all is well in his world.

We pray that as Luke grows into a young man, his love will be for Jesus.
We pray this verse for Luke.
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Romans 10:9

Happy 90th Birthday Great Grandma

Happy 90th Birthday.  It was a sweet celebration for a wonderful lady whom our kids call Great Grandma!

What a difference a week can make!

Last Thursday, we had a rare winter storm in Georgia.  This is what it looked like outside!

Schools were called off for four days due to this winter wonderland.  We were able to still home school the first day off, but after that life was too busy having Dad and our older brothers home.  Plus, the kids were too excited about all this snow and ice to concentrate on school.

Just one short week later, our weather is sunny and 70!
We spent some time at the park this afternoon

Trying to get a picture of all six kids is always an adventure!  Someone is always not ready to participate.
