4 Months

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to

cry if I want to

cry if I want to

Luke,
You are four months old today.  You were not thrilled with the idea of taking our monthly pictures today.  We tried your crib as the backdrop and you wanted nothing to do with it.  So, we tried the couch and didn't have much better luck.
This is what you have been doing this past month.
You found your hands and constantly want to put them in your mouth
You rolled over from your back to your front.
You like to hang out in the jumperoo
and sit in your highchair
You are not much of a smiler.
You prefer to take in all that is going on around you.

You will have your official four month appointment on Tuesday, so we will post your stats then.  Yesterday, we drove to Augusta to visit the NICU clinic.  Dr. Brody, who admitted you the night you arrived by helicopter from Athens was so happy to see how great you are doing.  He said you are acting developmentally more like a four month old than your adjusted age of 2 1/2 months.  Your blood test results are all normal!  Your health is a praise for the many prayers said on your behalf.  We are so grateful.

Happy Four Month Birthday to our "Uncle Fester" as Daddy affectionately calls you.  You are so loved!

"Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:16

Birthday Blessing

These kids along with their Dad made my birthday a special one.
Emily and her band of little helpers decorated the dining room for my party.
After many years of hinting that I love cookie cakes, I received a cake big enough to feed 30!
It was delicious.

"“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
Matthew 7:7-11

First Day of Fall

Today is the first day of fall.  Much to our older boys dismay, Brett informed them last night that they would be getting out in the yard nice and early this morning to begin prepping the yard for fall.  We have tons of trees, which in turn means we have tons of leaves that will begin to fall very soon.  So, Brett wanted to get the yard cleaned up, bushes trimmed, and the brush taken down into the woods before the leaves begin to fall.

Several hours, a couple of arguements on the part of the older boys, and plenty of dirty kids and our yard is on its way to being ready for fall.

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life."
Psalm 143:8

What our Girls Love to Do

These are our girls...
Emily- 9 years old
Kate- 4 years old
Caroline- 21 months old

Currently, Caroline loves Thomas.  At bible study last week, she saw a little boy carrying a Thomas the Train backpack and she went crazy!

Kate loves to color and create, much like her older sister.  At school she loves the writing center and painting on the easel.  She also loves to sing.  She is learning so many fun songs at preschool and comes home every night ready to sing another new song for us.  This week she is singing, "There was an old woman all skin and bones, woooooooooo!"  She also loves the bubble gum song, the wheels on the bus, and the monkey teasing the crocodile song.

Emily loves to read.  We have a hard time finding books to keep up with her.  Currently she is reading, "The Report Card" by Andrew Clements.

God made each of our girls beautiful in his eyes.  As fast as the years seem to be going, I pray that I instill this truth in their minds and hearts.

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self -controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed."

Mid-Week Randoms

I wanted to do a day in the life post as a way to document and remember the craziness of life now, but I still haven't gotten that done.  So....I will post some pictures from our week instead.

Weekend in Review

Friday night, Emily, Matt, Andrew and I attended Kids Stuff Live at our church.  This is a family activity offered to provide another opportunity to hear about the Big Idea they are discussing in the kids small groups on Sunday at church.  This month the kids are learning about honesty.  We had a great time worshipping with other families, then watched a program in which they drove home the idea that God doesn't measure our lies with a ruler like approach.  There is no such thing a small or big lie in the eyes of God.

"God detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful."
Proverbs 12:22

Saturday morning, Brett's boss Dean came by and picked up Brett, Jake, Nick, and Matt for the Clemson football game.  We put Luke in his Georgia onesie just because we now live in a college town who loves their DAWGS!
The boys outside the stadium
The tiger paw
Inside the stadium
They had a great afternoon and are looking forward to the Clemson/Virginia Tech game in October.

While the boys were away....The girls, Andrew, and Luke went on a picnic lunch at the park.
Luke spent his time in the baby bjorn and thankfully was asleep
The kids love this park.  It is in the woods and had a really fast slide and lots of wooden bridges.

Sunday was super busy.  After church, Emily and I went straight to Sam's Club, made a quick stop home with the loot and headed out to purchase boots for Emily and finish our grocery shopping at
Wal-Mart.  I was still unpacking groceries when our babysitter arrived so Brett and I could attend our small group.  We had a fun night of fellowship with our group putting together 100 Christmas boxes for Samaritans Purse.
